Southwark has a “Heart for Young People”
These were the words of the Bishop of Southwark as he launched the new Diocesan Youth Work training programme, at St John’s Waterloo on Thursday 31 March. The Bishop went on to thank all those who work in parishes with young people for the “amazing things you accomplish, week in week out, through your passion for work with young people”.
This new training programme has been produced by the Diocesan Children and Youth development Group (CYDG), in partnership with Greenwich Youth for Christ and over the coming months will look at areas such as young people’s spirituality, challenging behaviour and the use of IT in youth work.
Bishop Christopher was joined by Nick Shepherd, the Director of the Centre for Youth Ministry who reminded those present how vitally important and necessary working and engaging with our young people is.
Tim Marwood, Chair of CYDG (Children and Youth Development Group) said he was delighted to be able to offer such high quality training to support, encourage and enthuse those on the ground who were engaging in this important area of mission.
